How to permanently delete text messages on your iPhone?

1. Sync your iPhone with iTunes regularly

2. Remove Spotlight Message Search
You can control what Spotlight can or cannot look into. Go to Settings > General > Spotlight Search, scroll to the bottom and then uncheck Messages to make your cached texts invisible in Spotlight.
3. Erase All Content & Settings
This is the most radical step you can take. It will erase everything on your iPhone. So make sure you have backed up all important information. After that, go to Settings > General > Reset and tap "Erase all content and settings".
